An Automatic decluttering system, hung from anchors mounted in the corners of your ceiling and controlled by self-hosted AI or Gamepad. Our Pilot launch is the first Stringman version available to the public.
Ships in 5-8 days within the United States
This robot's ultimate purpose is to save you time on household chores. And because not every job needs a humanoid form and 90 DOFs, a simple cable-driven parallel robot is all it takes to tidy your floor by putting trash or laundry in designated bins.
Stringman stays completely off the floor, so navigating obstacles is not the main challenge. When not in use, it can be parked up above head level on a wall mounted dock.
It’s designed to grip and drop clutter (up to 1kg) into a bin, laundry hamper, or trash can with a max travel speed of 0.25 m/s.
Get up and running in an afternoon. Just mount components to the wall and run calibration. You can even download and run the open source control panel now for a preview.
Control via a gamepad lets you pick up anything in the room and bring it to you (or drop it on someone's head). AI integration is optional, no software or AI expertise is needed to to drive it around.
Note: This is a Pilot Launch. While the hardware is finalized, the software is in active development. This is your chance to own the platform, contribute to the data, and train your own models.
The Stringman control panel gives visually intuitive control over every aspect of the robot:
This listing is for the fully assembled robot, which includes:
Stringman has been designed from the beginning with teleoperation and AI control as the end goal but it is still in active development
Full disclosure, at this stage, I do not yet have on offer a trained model that can perform a useful task and generalize to new rooms. To do so will require a greater variety of data. If you are capable and interested in contributing episodes, please get in touch.
To suit your room layout, at checkout you will be asked to provide a diagram of your room or otherwise specify which type of anchor modules you need (corner, flat looking left, or flat looking right). I will email you to confirm the choice of modules is appropriate before shipping. this does not affect the price.
You may also provide the wifi credentials of the network you want your robot to connect to. I reccomend letting me preconfigure this but I provide a script that will configure the wifi network that can be run on a linux machine with each component's SD card inserted one at a time.
The gripper face plate is shipped in the pictured copper color, but I will print it in other colors at your request if I have the filament, just describe what you'd like in the extra comments box at checkout.
If you are thinking of replacing the gripper with an end effector of your own design, you absolutely can. the tether can support 1kg in motion and somewhat more at rest, and supplies 24v at a maximum current of 500mA.
Your support as an early adopter and participant in the Stringman Pilot launch is invaluable and for that you deserve to be repaid in kind.
Purchasing Stringman Pilot entitles you to a permanent 20% discount on any subsequent robot designed by Neufangled Robotics in the future.
